Twilight Cake

I've been making cakes here and there for my kids, parents, siblings, etc and recently had a friend to ask me to take on a paid cake for her daughter's birthday. I know what kind of abilities I have even though I don't have much practice or anything and jumped at the chance to do this cake because I immediately though, "I can do that!" It was so fun to do and I was pretty pleased with the outcome. The birthday girl loved it. Everyone else seemed impressed. Plus it tasted great. WIN! That totally made my day. I figured I would try to take all the book covers and fit them on the cake somehow.  A few things I tried ended up not working. I was using trial and error with a few things also. You gotta learn somehow! Ended up making the inside of the cake red velvet which added even more to the vibe of the cake :)

Pizza Wraps

This recipe was quick, cheap, kid friendly and TASTY! I took a package of crescent rolls, pepperoni, mozzarella shredded cheese and pizza sauce and made our own "pizza wraps". We rolled the pepperoni and cheese up in the crescent rolls. It was kind of hard to fit a lot so it got a little messy. Jakobi and I had a ton of fun making them though. We popped them into the oven to bake at the temp that was on the package for the crescent rolls and just watched them to see when they were done. I believe it was around 10 minutes. And to keep the mess to a minimum we just heated the pizza sauce separately and dipped the wraps!

Lovely Handprints

My 3 year old has been on this "art kick" where he wants to create and make art all day, every day. So I found this neat little project worth sharing. :) All you need is 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1/2 cup of water. We are making "salt-dough" here.

Mix it until everything is well blended. Then basically if the mixture is too sticky add a bit more flour and if it is too dry add a bit more water. I only had to add a tiny bit of flour to ours. Then just let the kids knead away for a while. It's fun for them all on it's own!
(Don't mind his spaghetti-o face lol)
I then separated it into 2 balls so we could do both Jakobi and Jaxon's little handprints. I pressed it into a bowl and peeled it off so I could get the smooth side to imprint on.

Jakobi did his own but I had to redo Jaxon's a couple of times, he just wanted to squeeze it every time I stuck his little hand in the dough :)

If you are planning on hanging these, make holes for ribbons in advance! I made one on each side for easy hanging. Then put them in the oven at 200F, I wouldn't put them in for any higher temp because I believe they will rise and we don't want that. The thicker you make these the longer you will need to leave them in there to dry out. I left mine in the oven for about 4 hours but they were pretty thick and I also flipped them over towards the end.

After they are all done and cooled off then the kiddos get to have even more fun by painting them. Jakobi wanted his to look like a sun so I got some yellow paint and I got to pick out Jaxon's color ;) since he couldn't. Jakobi did a swell job painting these though.

I then just added the ribbons and their names and they are ready to hang!
Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Shipwrecked in Paradise

I've been broke lately but I love Pretty Addictions mineral cosmetics. It's an indie company with a fabulous person behind the creations. I HAD to purchase at least some of the new collection she recently came out with and thought I would share with you guys. Her colors are super and easily blend-able and highly pigmented. I am never any less than impressed with her products!

Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies

Who doesn't love cookies? They're made with whole grain quaker oats. Individually packaged which means you have to open another one if you want to over indulge! lol. Provides a good source of fiber and contains 6 grams of total fat per serving. You can find Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies at most major retailers.
Suggested retail price: $2.69 for a box of 6 cookies. I LOVE soft cookies so I am a sucker for these. Me and Jakobi split this and his half was gone in less than 2 seconds. Most of my pantry is made up of Quaker products so why not cookies too?! I'm thinking they would taste great warmed, like a fresh out of the oven home made cookie! 5 Stars.
I received this product to test and review complimentary from Influenster.
